A supersonic is something that exceeds the speed of sound. Supersonic planes are a subject or curiosity as they can travel faster than sound but are a subject to criticism as they emit loud noises which are hazardous. NASA’s experimental X-59 aircraft is now in final testing before its first flight. The test will range from structural integrity assessment to control system. If tested went well it will set a new stage in quiet supersonic travel.

X-59 is an experimental plane that can travel faster than the speed of sound without loud sonic boom. It is designed to make low noises than supersonic planes before.  Because of unique design the X-59 engineering team must do all as it can predict every aspect before to ever takes off which will include how its fuselage, wings, and the control systems will behave together in flight. The scientists will design not only how structurally sound the aircraft is but also what forces a take once it is in the air. The test will be conducted at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia, The X-59 structural tests will provide engineer with valuable feedback as scientists collected data from 2022- 2024.

Earlier this year tests were conducted to see its control surfaces, ailerons flaps and rudder. It was moved by computer. There were two vital tests before to ensure the aircraft will absorb the forces. This year the X-59 ejection seat was installed which passed inspection. “First flights are always very instance”, said Natalie Spivey who is an aerospace engineer at NASA’s Armstrong Flight Research Center in Edwards, California. But if the test is passed it will revolutionize the flight systems.
