Visa opens office in Kathmandu to deepen commitment to Nepal Welcomes Manoj Thapa as Visa’s Head of Nepal business

Kathmandu, August 06, 2025: Visa (NYSE: V), the global leader in digital payments has formally opened its dedicated Nepal office in Kathmandu. The inauguration of Visa’s Nepal office underscores the company’s long-term commitment to supporting the country’s journey toward a cashless economy. This strategic move aims to broaden access to digital payments and deliver seamless, secure financial solutions for both consumers and merchants.

 

 

Additionally, Visa has announced the appointment of Mr. Manoj Thapa as Head of Nepal. In his new role, Manoj will focus on strengthening local partnerships and accelerating the adoption of secure, innovative digital payments solutions to meet the country’s evolving needs. Manoj will report to Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager for Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan at Visa.

Born in Nepal, Manoj has a global outlook shaped by his academic and professional experiences in the UK and India. He is passionate about leveraging technology to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs), foster financial inclusion, and build trusted collaborations that create lasting positive impact.

 

With over a decade of experience in the payments and financial services sector, Manoj brings a wealth of expertise and proven leadership to Visa, Nepal. Previously, he served as Head of Partnerships & Innovation at Fonepay, where he led cross-border payment initiatives and forged impactful alliances with international and local financial institutions. Prior to that, as Senior Business Development Manager at LivQuik Technology Pvt Ltd. in India, he successfully led business development efforts that contributed significantly to the company’s growth.
