Smartphones are part of our civilization. A normal people spends hour in smartphones. A question arises does reducing screen time increase productivity? A study has found using existing microphones apps to track cellphone screen time may lead to greater perceived productivity and user satisfaction.
As per study Kaveh Abhari of San Diego State University and Issac Vaghefi of city University on New York found that monitoring cellphone screen time will apps can improve productivity and user satisfaction. There a lot of research that focuses on negative effects of cell phone screen but the research focused on if decreasing time could enhance productivity. The research found that tracking cellphone usage and set goals surrounding that usage tended to have enhanced productivity as they met stated objectives. To make this determination the researchers surveyed 469 participating university undergraduate students in California, New York and Hawaii. The survey was three week long there was a screen monitoring application to monitor and set limits or goals with their cellphone screen time. It was found that the productivity achieved through cellphone screen time.
In conclusion Abhari and Vaghefi determined that while uncontrolled cellphone use could negatively impact people’s lives, monitored screen time with specific goals in mind can result in positively outcomes and higher overall user satisfaction. With this study lead system developers embed features into mobile devices that enable self-monitoring. With these features there will be improved quality screen time and enhance the relationship between humans and digital technology.
