The gossips of planets that might be habitable is not common. Scientists reveal a newly discovered roughly earth sized planet orbiting a nearest neighboring star might be habitable. It is named Proxima b. Astronomers have found out a planet orbiting the closest star named Proxima Centauri.  It orbits its cool red planet star every 11 days and has temperature suitable for water to exist. It is more massive than Earth and it may be closest possible abode for life outside the solar system.   Proxima b is just four light years away from Solar system. It is the closest star to Earth apart from the sun. It lies in the constellation of Centauri and is too faint to be seen with unaided eye. This was the Pale Red Dot campaign in which a team of astronomers led by Guillem Anglada Escude from Queen Mary University of London was looking for tiny back and forth wobble of the star that would be caused by gravitational pull of a possible orbiting planet. Proxima Centauri is approaching Earth at about at about 5 kilometers per hour. It has mass at least 1.4 times that of the earth orbiting about 7 million kilometers from Proxima Centauri- only 5 % of Earth- Sun distance.   Red dwarfs like Proxima Centauri are active stars and can vary in ways that would mimic the presence of planet.  Although Proxima b orbits much closer to its star than Mercury does to the Sun in the Solar System the star is fainter than the Sun. Thus Proxmia b lies well within habitable zone around the star and has estimated surface temperature that would allow the presence of liquid water. Proxmia b in unlikely to have seasons. Proxima b will be a prime target for hunt of evidence of life elsewhere in the Universe.   Guillem Anglada-Escudé says : “The search for life on Proxima b comes next…”
