ABOUT GADFLY’S ZOO
“Gadfly’s Zoo: With Additional Writings” is a book authored by Roshan B. Karki. The narrative follows Colonel Roshan and Second Lieutenant Gadfly during the Vietnam War. After the war, Gadfly mysteriously disappears, prompting Roshan to embark on a journey to Nepal and Tibet. In Tibet, he encounters monks who bestow upon him a locket believed to have the power to create peace in the world. Colonel Roshan then meets Gadfly who has bought a hill and opened “Gadfly’s Zoo” running away with a beautiful Vietnamese girl “ Soni.” Lieutenanat Gadfly requests colonel Roshan to pass rest of his life taking care passengers. As soon the tourist start pouring they collect ample amount of money. One day “ Gadfly’s Zoo” catches fire and with the money the trio decide to see seven wonders of the world. Seeing the seven wonders colonel Roshan decide to create a wonder in the world. He decides to become a politician and becomes the President of United States after becoming governor of Iowa. With the use of locket Roshan frees the world from nuclear warfare. Finally Roshan and Gadfly feel the sense of fulfillment as they open another zoo near Hollywood Hill.

As I walked, I remembered an old speech by an old man. We should fight in the hills. We should fight on beaches and in the ocean. We shall defend our island whatever the cause may be. We shall never surrender. The man was Winston Churchill. I represent the same Gurkhas who sowed the earth with blood for justice in the Second World War. My parents were from Nepal. I had Gurkha blood in my veins. Military life always fascinatedted me. And here I was in Vietnam commanding U.S.. Troops. I represent the same Gurkhas who got the Victoria Cross with the queen of England for their bravery.

They started chanting syllables. The third monk sat in the middle of the mandala. Soon he was in Samadhi. There were echoes from pots. Soon he started levitating. He rose ten inches from the ground. I could not believe it. After one hour,, he levitated twenty inches from the ground. Gravity had no effect on him. Soon he rose two meters from the ground. He had attained the state of Nirvana. He was to go to heaven with Buddha and be liberated from the cycle of birth and death.

I was near my sixties. I decided to run for President of the United States. If you submit yourselves to people,, then there is always something more to be done. If I had wanted,, I could have used the locket,, but I believed in fair competition. Will Jobs was my rival. I started working day and night to make an agenda for people.
